We host edutainment shows every week in Kikuyu language that feature topics that the audience has requested.
So far we have covered topics that include: diabetes, malaria, COVID-19, cancer, photosynthesis, whitefly, coffee rust, depression, why rain has the smell it does, sickle cell anemia, how DNA is organized, why some mosquitoes prefer some people over others, anger, fistula, acid reflex, leprosy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, differentiation of sexual development, STIs, ulcers, blood groups, who saw cells for the first time, phantom pain, genetics of daughters, diptheria and pseudomonas, hair-relaxers/bleaching, and several more.
The aim of this show is to educate and empower audiences about topics related to microbes in the Kikuyu language of Central Kenya. We hope to expand to more mother tongues as capacity and resources allow.
